If you know much about websites, odds would suggest that you have heard a horror story about a web design project gone wrong. Was it a narrative about a company over-promising and under-delivering, over-charging, or putting together a website that was not optimized? Stories like this are far from uncommon. Unfortunately, websites can frequently become something quite different than what they were initially advertised to be. Lamentably, I got my start in web design because of a web developer who neglected a client’s project after receipt of payment.
One day, I happened to contact a successful entrepreneur to inquire about a number of products marketed by his company. He subsequently directed me to the company’s website to review their merchandise. Much to my surprise, I found that clicking many of the links on the website returned the following message: ERROR 404 PAGE NOT FOUND. I tried to access the website on other devices and the result was even less successful. The website was built using Adobe Flash, ergo, it was outdated and would not operate on many devices. In layman’s terms, the website was for all intents and purposes dysfunctional.
I knew a few things about web design, however, I was far from an expert. Despite this, the entrepreneur agreed to let me rebuild his website when I felt ready to do so. I began studying .php, .css, html, and javascript. Learning several design languages at once was admittedly daunting. However, as the months went by, my skills were honed. I learned how to code a modern site while avoiding the pitfalls of the developer who preceded me.
After months of study, I began constructing a new website for the aforementioned entrepreneur. During my research, I stumbled upon a very elegant website in his particular industry. My goal was to create something unique, while implementing some of the same techniques used in the website I had seen. After months of coding, deleting, coding, walking away from the computer in frustration, and more long nights of coding, I completed the project. The end result was something I never thought I would actually accomplish: a beautiful website that the client uses in their showroom every day.
In 2014, Exito Interactive became a reality. We began working with new clients, from life coaches, to a blog about Catholicism, to websites for larger companies. As I continued to evolve as a web developer, I made sure that I didn’t forget why we got started. We care about our clients and endeavor to provide a website that we are proud of, at an affordable price. Every website need not cost tens of thousands of dollars. Therefore, we make sure that our clients receive what they need, nothing more, nothing less.
